The New Zealand Series of Poker (NZSOP) is New Zealand's most innovative poker series. The series is run in bars throughout the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and Auckland and we offer heaps of new awesome features that we are sure will blow you away. NZSOP is the best way to play texas hold'em poker in a social, fun and competitive environment. Players compete in nightly events for cash and leaderboard points to qualify for the $3000 Season Final every 10 weeks, and the best thing is - it's completely free to play. At no point will we ask you for money to play. We give away over $18,000 in cash and prizes every year!

The Poker

Here at the New Zealand Series of Poker we play one of the fastest growing games in the world - No Limit Texas Hold'em Poker. Texas Hold'em consists of the player creating the best five card hand possible by using the two 'hole cards' dealt to them and the five community cards or 'the board'. Texas Hold’em has exploded in popularity worldwide thanks to the phenomenon of internet poker, televised multi-million-dollar events, and of course free-to-play pub poker. The Rankings

The NZSOP Rankings are what make NZSOP so unique compared to other New Zealand poker leagues. We have come up with a highly comprehensive formula which calculates every players ranking compared to every other player - every time you play! For the first time ever you will truly be able to see who is the no.1 player. Your ranking is based on a combined rank-score of your previous 15 games with a ranking bonus for winning so consistent results with the odd win is the key to a good ranking.

The Website

We believe we have the best NZ poker league website. Apart from looking pretty flash, its the abundance of features that make it so awesome. Results from each poker night are uploaded to the website by the end of each week so you can see where you finished, how many points you received, where you stand on the leaderboard, and which players you need to beat to make the finals. As well as that, once you have a username and password you can access your personal profile to see all your previous results from all NZSOP venues, buy rewards from our Rewards Store using your NZSOP credits, and view your trophy cabinet to see how awesome you are at poker. And of course you can find out about finals dates, upcoming tournaments, and all the latest NZSOP news.

Tournament Structure

No doubt you want to know how the tournaments work and more importantly how you win cash! Well look no further.

The New Zealand Series of Poker tournament structure is a 10-week tournament followed by a $3000 Season Final where the top 9 claim a share of $3000 on the day. We also hold a $500 Second-Chance Satellite for the Season Final, for those players that finished 11th-20th at their venue. The top 20 players at the Satellite qualify for the $3000 Season Final the following day. And for our very best players we have a Champions Tournament once every season where players can win points to qualify for the 2012 $5000 'Final 9'. As if that isn’t enough to reward our players we hold a special tournament each season including Heads-Up tournaments, Ladies-only tournaments, Bounty tournaments, Turbo Tournaments, Teams tournaments, and special invite-only cash-prize tournaments for a selection of top ranked players.
